Infoslide: For the purposes of this debate, therapeutic language refers to the use of psychological and psychiatric categories in everyday speech (especially online), often in inaccurate or metaphorical ways. Examples include: calling a merely difficult relationship “toxic”, referring to a personal preference for tidiness as “OCD”, labelling ordinary lapses of concentration as “ADHD”, or informally diagnosing friends or public figures with mental disorders.
